Had to make scones for my Junior Cert home ec thing ...so of course had to practice making them for months leading up to the practical! Never again... havn't made them since !!!
scones are annoyingly hard to get right. Here's a recipe that you cant go wrong with, its going to seem really weird but trust me, they are yum!
1 cup of 7up 1 cup cream 3 cups of self-raising flour
Preheat oven to 220C.
Add 7up and cream to sifted flour, mix to form soft dough with finger, then place mixture on floured surface.
Bring together to a 2 cm thickness and cut into circles (just use the top of a glass our cup, you don't need a fancy cutter or anything!) Place close together on tray, brush with or dip (briefly) into milk and bake for 10 - 15 minutes.
This is like the nail in the coffin to my failed New Year's Resolutions. Better go make these before lent rolls around haha.
